We awoke to news this morning that many schools, homes and businesses have wrongly been using alcohol-free hand sanitiser products, which do not conform to World Health Organisation (WHO) standards. WHO says hand sanitiser should contain at least 60% alcohol to be effective against COVID-19 and has published tests showing that an alcohol based formula only takes around 20 seconds to kill the virus. In stark contrast, alcohol-free formulations can take as long as 2 minutes to kill the virus with the product needing to be wet on the skin for this duration.
We are proud to be playing our part in keeping the local community safe, by supplying a highly effective 80% alcohol based formula to a whole host of organisations and businesses – including Kent’s rail networks. We also donate 10% of all the hand sanitiser we produce to local charities and key frontline services. Not only does our sanitiser contain more alcohol than the WHO minimum requirements, it also doubles as an effective surface sanitiser due to its fast drying, non-sticky formula. Though our Distillery is now very much in the swing of creating our award-winning fine spirits, we are still producing our hand sanitiser alongside them and will continue to do so all while COVID remains a risk.
It is expected that the UK Government will soon reissue guidelines around which formulation of sanitiser should be used to keep us all safe, as more of us return to work and education in the coming weeks. If you are in need of a proven and effective alcohol based sanitiser for your business, please get in touch to discuss how we can help.
