WE'RE HIRING!

Located central to the County Town of Kent, Maidstone Distillery is situated in the historic and beautiful setting of the Market Buildings and old Corn Exchange.

We are a distillery making three fabulous spirits: two gins and a liqueur. Our flagship spirit, George Bishop Gin, has been lucky enough to be awarded a silver medal at the IWSC and is shortlisted for the 2021 Kent Spirit of the Year Award too. We will be relaunching in 2021 our tours and experiences.

Maidstone has a fascinating history of distilling dating as far back as the 18th Century, and it is this alongside our own personal desire to create unique and delicious spirits, that makes us so unique.

After running 3-4 months of successful Distillery Tours in 2020, with excellent Trip Advisor reviews, we are looking to relaunch the tours in 2021. We are also looking to launch our gin making experience. At every step of the way we want to instil in our visitors a sense of theatre, intrigue and a unique atmosphere, leaving with positive memories of the great experience they had and the delicious spirits they tasted. We are also looking to spread the word about the Distillery and give more people the chance to experience us and our spirits, so we are also looking for flexible part time Event and Trade Show staff too.

EVENT AND TRADE SHOW STAFF

Location: Maidstone ME14 1HP base but travel within Kent and beyond

Start date: 17/04/21

Part Time: flexible hours. Week to week hours and days may vary. Events will usually take place Saturdays, but there may be some Fridays and Sundays. Evenings during the week may also be offered.

Hourly rate: £10.50 per hour.

Vacancy Description:

Our growing company is looking to hire Event Staff. Every weekend you will represent the Distillery with a colleague at a range of different events; including fayres, markets, trade client events, trade shows and more. You will give us the ability to have a presence at new and exciting locations and spread the word about the Distillery. You will be running and manning a stall, talking to customers, giving samples and selling spirits and other merchandise at these events.

Your day will begin with meeting at the Distillery and preparing for the event. You will then be on the road, arriving at the chosen location to set up the stall ready for the day. You will operate the stall then pack it down and return to base to unload at the end of the day.

As we are small, all staff are required to assist with general Distillery duties, including but not limited to the bottling and labelling line, packing, deliveries, manning the distillery shop, bar and such like. This hands on experience does give an extra level of understanding into what makes us and our spirits so unique, as well as providing lots of variety.

The nature of the business requires lifting heavy goods and due to alcohol licensing laws you must be 18 or over at the time of appointment. The working days may vary, so flexibility will be very useful.

You must have your own private vehicle available, for which any applicable mileage to and from events will be provided. Depending on the event a company vehicle may be provided. You will be required to have a full, clean driving license. You will be provided with Level 2 Food Hygiene training, if this is something you do not already hold.

Legacy

We are reinstating the tradition of Maidstone pioneer and master distiller, George Bishop, who created quality and world-renowned spirits from our county town back in 1785. We are reclaiming our forgotten heritage to produce spirits of depth, meaning and character that we can all be proud of. He was a champion of the people and it’s time for his legacy to be tasted again.
