The results are in and we are incredibly proud to announce that our debut spirit, George Bishop London Dry Gin, scored 93 out of a possible 100 at this year’s International Wine and Spirits Competition – certifying us with a silver medal and our very first award, mere weeks after opening the Distillery doors.
The IWSC is a truly international competition and this year saw a record amount of entries in the Gin field, with hundreds of submissions from participants in over 80 countries. We were pitched against some serious competitors and managed to place above many of the industry titans, so we are truly delighted with the results.
The judges heaped praise on George, describing him as having “a complex nose with ripe tropical notes, ginger, mint and juniper. Orris and liquorice also find a home in this intricate blend which is round and elegant on the palate.”
IWSC judges are world-renowned experts from across the global spirits trade. They use the ‘double-blind’ tasting method, which means samples are tasted in pre-poured numbered glasses to ensure they never see the bottle. Each spirit is judged by a whole panel in sync, allowing for group discussions.
